Slice the bacon into small pieces and cook in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp.

Once the bacon is cooked, remove it from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on a few sheets of paper towel.

Remove all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat from the pan, then add the onions to the remaining bacon fat and cook until they are soft and translucent.
