Crack green beans served on a white plate.

Crack Green Beans

Author: Jenna
Those from the southern states of America know that one of the best dishes to come out of the region is southern crack green beans. These flavorful, savory beans have been beloved for generations and are just as popular today. The tangy yet sweet taste comes from a combination of brown sugar and ketchup and crispy bacon gives the dish its finishing touch. Crack green beans are a great side dish to serve at any family get-together.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 42 ounces canned green beans
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 8x10 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Cook the bacon until crispy and then crumble it into small pieces. For quick and easy bacon, I recommend cooking in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk together until the mixture is well combined.
  • Drain the green beans and add to the sauce mixture. Toss to coat.
  • Add the green beans and sauce mixture to the baking dish and cover with foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the sauce is thick and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and top with the crumbled bacon. Serve warm.
