Easy Vegan Air Fryer Tofu Nuggets

Ingredients
  

Batter

  • ½ cup plant milk of choice
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

Breading

  • 4 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper ground

Tahini Maple Mustard Sauce

  • 3 tablespoon tahini
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 3 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Tofu Nuggets

  • Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. You'll want your tofu to be well-pressed for this recipe to ensure that the nuggets are nice and crispy.
  • Slice the tofu into eight equal slices, then use your hands to tear each slice into 3 to 4 nugget-sized pieces.
  • Mix ½ cup plant milk, ½ cup flour, and 2 teaspoon dijon mustard together to make the batter. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Mix the ingredients for the breading together in a separate bowl.
  • Once you have the batter and breading prepared in separate bowls, take a piece of tofu and coat it in the batter, then transfer it to the bowl with the breading mix and coat it generously.
  • Place the tofu nugget into the air fryer basket and repeat with the remaining pieces of tofu.
  • Air fry the nuggets at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 13 minutes, flipping the nuggets over at the halfway point.

Tahini Maple Mustard Sauce

  • While the nuggets cook, whisk the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl. Add a splash of water to achieve your desired consistency for the sauce.
  • Serve the nuggets with the sauce and some fresh parsley and lemon slices. Enjoy!
